Who is Rebecca?

Rebecca is a fearless, sharp-tongued member of Maine's crew and Pilar's sister. She enjoys the danger and excitement of mercenary work, but her loyalty to the crew runs deeper than her brash manner suggests. Rebecca takes a particular interest in David and remains beside him through the crew's changing fortunes, fighting with fierce commitment when their lives are on the line.

Appearance

Rebecca is short and compact, with pale skin, large eyes, and bright cyan hair cut into short, uneven sections. Her distinctive look is completed by contrasting makeup and a colorful, revealing streetwear outfit suited to Night City's edgerunner scene. She carries a large customized shotgun that appears almost oversized beside her small frame. Her expressive face can shift quickly from an impish grin to a focused stare, and her lively movements give her a strong presence despite her stature.

Personality

Rebecca is bold, profane, and quick to turn danger into an occasion for humor. She enjoys provoking people and can appear reckless, but she is also perceptive about the moods and relationships within her crew. Her teasing of Pilar is affectionate in the context of their sibling bond, while her loyalty to the people she cares about is genuine and enduring. She develops feelings for David but does not demand that he return them, and she accepts his attachment to Lucy. Beneath her brash manner, Rebecca is courageous, emotionally direct, and willing to put herself at risk for her friends.

Background

The series does not offer an extensive account of Rebecca's life before its opening events. She is Pilar's younger sister and already an established edgerunner when David first meets Maine's crew. She works alongside Pilar and the others on mercenary jobs, bringing a strong combat presence to the group. Her early life, family beyond Pilar, and path into Night City's underworld are not described in detail. By the time the story begins, she has built a close connection to the crew and is accustomed to the violence and instability that define their work.

Role in CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS

  1. Meeting David and the crew

Rebecca is part of the crew David encounters after entering Maine's circle. Her sharp humor and confident manner quickly establish her as one of the group's most colorful members. She jokes with Pilar, keeps watch on the newcomers, and becomes familiar with David as he starts learning how the crew operates.

  2. Maine's decline

As Maine's cyberpsychosis worsens, Rebecca remains close to the crew and experiences the consequences of his deterioration. She is among the people forced to confront how dangerous his condition has become. The loss of Maine and Dorio marks a turning point, leaving Rebecca and the surviving members to continue in a changed and diminished group.

  3. David's crew

After the passage of time and David's rise as a mercenary, Rebecca continues working with him and the other survivors. She is openly attracted to him, but she does not try to override his feelings for Lucy. Her loyalty is practical as well as emotional: she takes part in jobs, supports the team, and remains present as David's use of the Sandevistan becomes increasingly dangerous.

  4. The final operation

Rebecca joins the effort to rescue Lucy and confront the forces closing in on David. She fights beside him despite the overwhelming opposition and uses her heavy weapon against Adam Smasher. Smasher kills her during the confrontation, ending her attempt to protect David and the people she considers her family.

Abilities and techniques

Shotgun combat

Rebecca's most recognizable weapon is a large, customized shotgun. She uses it effectively at close and medium range, delivering forceful attacks in chaotic fights. Her skill is not based on subtlety; she favors aggressive firepower and is willing to close distance when the situation calls for it.

Firearms proficiency

Rebecca is comfortable handling weapons during crew operations and can keep fighting under intense pressure. Her combat style is direct and energetic, supported by her familiarity with mercenary work. The series emphasizes her shotgun, rather than presenting her as a specialist in every kind of firearm.

Close-quarters fighting

She can hold her own when combat moves close, combining quick movement with the threat of her weapon. Her small build does not prevent her from confronting larger opponents, though she relies on aggression, timing, and firepower rather than overpowering them physically.

Combat awareness

Rebecca reads immediate threats quickly and remains engaged when a fight becomes confused. She can shift from joking to purposeful action without hesitation, making her useful in the crew's fast-moving operations. Her awareness is practical and situational rather than a form of formal tactical command.

Loyalty under pressure

Her willingness to stay beside friends in dangerous situations is a defining strength. Rebecca continues to support David even as his condition deteriorates, and she joins the final fight knowing the odds are poor. This commitment makes her a dependable ally, though it also places her in mortal danger.

Relationships

Pilar
Older brother
Rebecca and Pilar share a close sibling bond expressed through constant teasing and quick retorts. His death is an early loss for her and the crew. Their contrasting temperaments do not obscure the familiarity and affection behind their arguments.
David Martinez
Friend and unreciprocated romantic interest
Rebecca grows fond of David and is candid through her teasing and attention. She understands that his strongest attachment is to Lucy and does not turn her feelings into a demand. Her friendship remains loyal, and she stands by him as his life becomes increasingly dangerous.
Lucy
Fellow edgerunner
Rebecca works with Lucy as part of David's crew. Although Rebecca has feelings for David, she does not treat Lucy as an enemy or try to break their relationship. The two share the risks of crew life, with Rebecca ultimately helping in the effort to reach and protect her.
Maine
Former crew leader
Maine leads the crew Rebecca belongs to early in the series. She is part of the team shaped by his leadership and is present as his cyberpsychosis brings that group to tragedy. His loss contributes to the transition toward David's later crew.
