All Might

The world's greatest hero, whose grin alone reassures the public. In truth an old injury limits him to a few hours of muscular form each day, leaving a gaunt, coughing man beneath the bravado. He chooses a Quirkless admirer as his successor and takes a teaching post to watch over him, balancing a fading body against the duty of being everyone's symbol of peace.

In his hero form he is a towering, exaggeratedly muscular man whose torso seems too broad for any doorway, with a permanent grin, shadowed blue eyes and two long blond bangs that stand up like antennae. His costume is a skintight blue bodysuit with red and white striping and a high collar, though he often appears in a yellow pinstripe suit. His true form is startlingly different: gaunt to the point of skeletal, hollow-cheeked, with lank hair and sunken eyes, the result of a catastrophic injury that cost him a stomach and a lung and leaves him coughing blood.

Loud, theatrical and relentlessly upbeat, All Might projects the idea that help has arrived simply by laughing as he enters a scene. That cheer is deliberate armour: he believes a symbol must never look afraid, so he hides his pain, his time limit and his deteriorating body from almost everyone. Off-camera he is more awkward and self-critical, given to blunt honesty that can wound, as when he first tells a Quirkless boy the truth about hero work. He carries guilt over the people he failed to save and takes his new role as teacher seriously, if clumsily, admitting his mistakes to his student rather than posturing.

Toshinori Yagi was born without a Quirk and received One For All from the seventh holder, spending years building a career as the greatest hero of his era and driving crime rates down through sheer presence. A battle against a monstrous nemesis five years before the story left him with injuries no surgery could fully repair; since then his muscular form has been a time-limited transformation, shrinking from several hours to under three a day. Hiding this decline, he relocated to Tokyo, took a teaching post at U.A. High School and began searching for someone worthy to inherit his power before his own body gives out entirely.

1. Entrance Exam Arc

   He captures a sludge villain, then loses him after a starstruck boy clings to his leg mid-flight. Forced to reveal his withered true form and his three-hour limit, he initially crushes the boy's dream, only to watch that same boy run into danger unarmed. He reverses his judgement and offers his power.

2. Quirk Apprehension Test Arc

   Newly installed as a U.A. teacher, he watches from the sidelines as his successor struggles through Aizawa's assessment. His presence at the school is played for comedy as he bursts through doorways and struggles to keep his condition secret from colleagues and students alike.

3. Battle Trial Arc

   He runs indoor combat training from a monitor room, sending teams to attack and defend a mock weapon. He is visibly shaken when the exercise between his successor and Bakugo turns into a genuine grudge match, and afterwards he privately counsels the winner about what the loss really meant.

4. U.S.J. Arc

   Arriving late because of his dwindling transformation time, he tears through low-level villains to reach his students, then faces a bioengineered Nomu built to kill him. Pushed past his limit and forced into repeated blows at the edge of his stamina, he wins by sheer will while the hand-covered villain leader watches and withdraws.

Izuku Midoriya

Successor and student

He recognises his own Quirkless youth in the boy and entrusts him with One For All, then supervises his training and worries constantly that the child will break himself trying to imitate him.

Shota Aizawa

Colleague

A pragmatic fellow teacher whose harsh methods contrast with All Might's encouragement. They fight side by side when villains invade the rescue facility, with Aizawa badly injured holding the line first.

Tomura Shigaraki

Enemy

The hand-wearing leader who assembles an alliance specifically to kill the Symbol of Peace and prove him mortal. Their first confrontation ends with Shigaraki retreating, convinced the hero is weaker than advertised.

Katsuki Bakugo

Student

A pupil whose raw talent he praises even while criticising his refusal to cooperate, telling him plainly after the battle trial that arrogance nearly cost him the exercise.

• He reveals his skeletal true form to a middle school student on a rooftop and explains the wound that has gutted his career.
• He declares that the boy who ran at a villain empty-handed can indeed become a hero.
• He rescues hostages and stops a sludge villain in seconds while apologising for his own earlier carelessness.
• He arrives at the U.S.J. and clears a swarm of villains almost faster than the students can see.
• He trades punches with the Nomu past the point his body can sustain and hurls it into the sky.

• His hero name doubles as a greeting he shouts on arrival, meant to reassure civilians before he does anything else.
• His transformation time shrinks over the season, a countdown the narrative uses to build tension.
• He keeps a yellow pinstripe suit for his shrunken form, several sizes too large for the body inside it.
