Who is Code?
The only failed Kārma vessel to survive the implantation, Code bears a white Kārma and worships Isshiki with fanatical devotion. After his master's death he vows revenge on Boruto and Kawaki and pursues Isshiki's plan to cultivate the Divine Tree. Volatile, arrogant and monstrously fast once his limiters come off, he becomes the driving threat of the series' final stretch and the Two Blue Vortex continuation.
Appearance
Code is a lean, broad-shouldered young man with wild, spiked red hair, pale skin and a mouth full of sharp teeth that give his grin a predatory edge. His most striking feature is the white Karma, an incomplete seal whose pale, horn-like patterns crawl up his neck and across his face and torso rather than sitting as a single mark. He favours dark, close-fitting clothing with a high collar and heavy boots, and when his limiters are eased his markings spread further and a pale horn pushes out of his skull, his eyes taking on a feral shine.
Personality
Code is a fanatic. His devotion to Isshiki Otsutsuki borders on worship, and every plan he makes is framed as completing his idol's unfinished work. Beneath that reverence sits a raw inferiority complex: he knows he was a failed vessel, and mockery about it sends him into sudden, gleeful violence. He swings between cheerful chattiness and murderous rage within a single conversation, and he enjoys taunting opponents while they struggle. Despite this cruelty he shows a strange, needy loyalty to anyone he considers an ally, which is why Eida's influence unbalances him so badly. He is also patient when it matters, willing to build strength slowly rather than throw away his chance at the chakra fruit.
Background
Code was one of many children gathered as potential vessels for Isshiki Otsutsuki. When the Karma was carved into him his body rejected the process, leaving the mark white and unfinished instead of killing him outright. Rather than discard the failure, Isshiki noticed that the botched implantation had produced a being of extraordinary raw power and allowed him to live, an act of mercy Code interpreted as love. Amado, the scientist who ran Kara's laboratories, fitted him with internal limiters so that this unstable weapon could be restrained if he ever turned on the organisation. Promoted to Inner, Code spent years as Kara's enforcer and cleaner, disposing of failures and keeping a respectful distance while Jigen's plans unfolded.
Role in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations
Kawaki Arc and the Fall of Isshiki
Watching from outside the battle, Code witnesses Isshiki's defeat and receives his idol's final instructions. Devastated, he swears to carry out the plan himself: cultivate the Ten-Tails, grow a Divine Tree and consume the chakra fruit to ascend. He also marks Amado as a traitor and the Hidden Leaf as the village that must be destroyed.
Kara Remnants and Amado's Defection
With Kara shattered, Code becomes the organisation's last true Inner. He hunts Amado, the only person able to release the limiters holding his power in check, and is enraged to learn the scientist has surrendered himself to Konoha. Forced to work around his restraints, he begins feeding his own flesh to the captive Ten-Tails to breed monstrous servants.
Assault on the Hidden Leaf
Code finally moves against Konoha, unleashing his Claw Grimes and testing the village's defences with his teleporting Claw Marks. He clashes with Kawaki and the Leaf's forces, but the confrontation ends badly for him when Boruto's Otsutsuki side surfaces and demonstrates a power far beyond his own, forcing a humiliating withdrawal.
Recruiting Eida and Daemon
Realising he cannot win alone, Code seeks out Eida, whose all-seeing clairvoyance would give him an unbeatable advantage. The meeting backfires: he falls instantly under her charm, becomes physically unable to raise a hand against her and must accept her terms, turning the fearsome Inner into an errand runner chasing after Kawaki on her behalf.
Abilities and techniques
White Karma
An incomplete Karma that never finished its implantation. Instead of a single seal it spreads across his body as pale markings, granting Otsutsuki-derived strength and access to a warped space-time technique, though it cannot absorb ninjutsu the way a true Karma can.
Claw Marks
Code's signature technique, in which he slashes claw-shaped scars into space itself. The marks act as paired gateways that let him and others step instantly between distant points, and can be used offensively to cut enemies or to drop them into another location mid-fight.
Claw Grimes
By offering his own flesh and blood to the captive Ten-Tails, Code produces monstrous white creatures that obey him without question. They can be deployed in swarms, regenerate readily and serve both as disposable soldiers and as a way to keep enemy forces pinned down.
Limiters
Amado installed internal restraints because Code's raw output was judged too dangerous to leave unchecked. Partial release swells his markings, sprouts a horn and pushes him toward Otsutsuki-tier strength; full release is treated by Kara's survivors as an outcome that must never be allowed.
Superhuman physique
Even restrained, Code moves faster than most elite shinobi can track and hits hard enough to shatter stone. His durability lets him shrug off wounds that would end a normal fighter, and he heals at an accelerated rate thanks to his altered body.
Divine Tree cultivation
He controls the Ten-Tails recovered from Kara's ruined facilities and nurtures it toward becoming a Divine Tree, the only route he has to a chakra fruit and the ascension Isshiki promised him.
Relationships
- Isshiki Otsutsuki
- Idol and master
- Code's entire identity is built on the moment Isshiki chose not to discard him. He reveres the Otsutsuki as a saviour, refers to his goals as inherited will, and treats revenge for his death as a sacred obligation rather than a personal grudge.
- Amado
- Creator of his limiters and hated traitor
- Amado holds the keys to Code's full power and the knowledge to destroy him, which makes their relationship one of mutual leverage. Code wants him alive long enough to remove the restraints, then dead for betraying Kara.
- Eida
- Reluctant ally he cannot resist
- Code approaches her as a useful asset and leaves as her captive admirer. Her charm strips him of the ability to threaten or harm her, so their partnership runs entirely on her terms while he pretends he is still in charge.
- Kawaki
- Rival vessel and bargaining chip
- Code despises Kawaki as the successful vessel he could never be, yet Eida's obsession forces him to pursue the boy alive rather than simply kill him, adding personal humiliation to an already bitter rivalry.
Notable moments
- He receives Isshiki's dying instructions and dedicates himself to completing the Otsutsuki's plan.
- He demands that Amado release his limiters, only to find the scientist has placed himself out of reach inside Konoha.
- He feeds his own flesh to the Ten-Tails to birth an army of Claw Grimes.
- His attack on the Hidden Leaf is broken when Boruto's Otsutsuki side manifests and overwhelms him.
- He falls under Eida's charm on first sight and becomes physically incapable of harming her.
Trivia
- His Karma is white rather than black, marking him as the only known failed vessel to survive the implantation.
- Kara's leadership considered him the strongest Inner after Jigen, which is why the limiters were installed in the first place.
- His Claw Marks are one of the few teleportation methods in the series comparable to Otsutsuki space-time travel.
- He speaks of Isshiki in openly worshipful terms, treating the plan for the chakra fruit as a will he inherited.
