Vanica Zogratis

The youngest of the Zogratis siblings and host to the devil Megicula, Vanica is a grinning thrill-seeker who treats war as entertainment and grows bored of any opponent who cannot survive her attacks. She curses those she finds interesting simply to see how long they last, a habit that shattered the lives of Noelle Silva and the Heart Kingdom's princess. Her only real loyalty is to the excitement of a fight that pushes her to her limits.

A lean, athletic young woman with wild dark hair streaked with red that falls in jagged, uneven lengths, and bright crimson eyes set in a permanently amused face. Her outfit is deliberately impractical for a ruler: a short open jacket, minimal top, brief shorts and heavy boots, with wrappings on her limbs that leave most of her muscle exposed. Curse markings crawl across her skin when her devil's power surges. In her fully unified state her hair lengthens dramatically, horns emerge, her eyes glow and dark patterning spreads over her body, giving her a feral, predatory silhouette.

She treats warfare as recreation. Bored by anything easy, she hunts strong opponents purely for the thrill and grows visibly delighted when someone survives her first attack. Allies and subordinates are disposable entertainment to her, and she will wound or discard them without a flicker of guilt. Her manner is playful and childlike, full of giggling and stretching and casual cruelty, which makes her far more unsettling than her grimmer brothers. She reveres the devil inhabiting her as a partner rather than a tool, and takes obvious pleasure in the curses it spreads. Toward her siblings she is affectionate in a careless way, and toward everyone else she is a force of appetite that stops only when something finally proves stronger than she is.

She is the youngest of three siblings of House Zogratis, born in the Spade Kingdom. Together with Dante and Zenon she formed contracts with high-ranking devils, gaining power far beyond ordinary mages, and the trio overthrew the kingdom's ruling line to seize the throne as the Dark Triad. Vanica bound herself to Megicula, a devil of curses whose influence can ruin bloodlines and nations from a distance. Long before the main story she crossed into the Clover Kingdom seeking a worthy fight and challenged a celebrated royal warrior, leaving behind a curse that slowly killed the woman and shaped the fate of her children. To Vanica the episode was simply a satisfying afternoon that she barely bothers to remember.

1. Heart Kingdom Arc

   Her existence surfaces when the Heart Kingdom's ruler explains that a devil's curse is killing her and that the same curse claimed a famous Clover royal years earlier. The trail leads directly to Megicula and to the laughing woman who carries it, giving Noelle a personal stake in the war to come.

2. Invasion of the Heart Kingdom

   Vanica descends on the Heart Kingdom with her devil-empowered followers, brushing aside its defenders for sport. She overwhelms the young mages who stand against her, tramples the kingdom's strongest fighters and departs with her objective achieved, leaving the survivors humiliated and forced to train far beyond their limits.

3. Dark Triad's ritual

   Back in the Spade Kingdom she takes part in her family's plan to tear open the barrier between worlds, gathering sacrificial power while her brothers handle strategy. Bored by preparation, she spends the interval sparring, tormenting her servants and looking forward to the stronger enemies the invasion will surely attract.

4. Spade Kingdom Raid Arc

   When the Clover Kingdom's counterattack reaches Spade territory, she waits in the heart of enemy ground with her elite followers, treating the assault as an overdue entertainment. The anime closes before her confrontation with the pursuing royal is resolved, leaving her looming over the story's unfinished war.

Devil host and partner

She shares her body with a curse devil of the highest order and speaks of it with genuine affection, treating their union as a partnership. Its curses are her favorite toys, and she happily spreads them for amusement.

The three rule the Spade Kingdom together as the Dark Triad. She is casually fond of them and defers to their planning, while remaining the least disciplined and most impulsive of the trio.
